…Junkel’s film meticulously adapts the story of Frankenstein to the context of his creation. Rough
…By revisiting familiar, creative and archetypal stories, the film bypasses their most interesting and challenging elements. The film never quite finds the balance between biopic tendencies and fantasy elements, resulting in a punishing film that doesn’t deserve the martyrdom it seeks to inflict on Mary Shelley.
