According to John Matze Wiki, biography and bio, he was the CEO of social networking services Speaking. He was fired last week as the site struggles to rebuild its online presence.

“On January 29, 2021, Parler’s Board of Directors, led by Rebecca Mercer, decided to terminate my employment as CEO of Parler, effective immediately. I did not participate in this decision,” Mr. Matze stated in a memo to Parler employees.

“Over the past few months, I have continually encountered opposition to my vision for the product, my belief in freedom of speech, and my opinion of how the Talking site should be run.

He told Reuters that Parler now has an “executive committee” consisting of Matthew Richardson and Mark Meckler.

Talk remains largely offline after it was scrapped following the January 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol by the cloud storage unit of Seattle-based Amazon and the application stores of Alphabet Inc.

The companies cited Talking’s history of violent content after far-right groups aired violent speeches on the platform in the run-up to the Washington riots. Parler, which was founded in 2018 and says it has more than 12 million users, describes itself as a “space for free speech.”

The app has attracted mostly conservative Americans who disagree with the content rules of social media sites like Facebook Inc and Twitter Inc. Matze told Reuters on January 13 that Parler could remain offline forever, but later promised to come back stronger.
